Family arguments over a loved one’s belongings happen often, and it can get so bad that recipients may not agree.

A woman shared a story about her mother and the gift she left behind. “Mom was always my best friend, so of course I was going to be there for her through this whole thing,” she wrote. Her greedy brother and aunts only visited when they needed money.

When her mom’s will was read, it revealed her mom saved $5 million and left it all to her brother and aunts. The woman, feeling devastated, received nothing. “Not a thing,” she noted, with tears and mascara on her skirt.

However, the lawyer gave her an envelope containing an address. She discovered it was a beautiful house filled with her favorite flowers. Her mother wanted her to have a place to start a family.

A note in the house explained that the money was given to teach her brother and aunts the value of family. “My mom knew that my brother and aunts were the ones who spent the most money,” the woman wrote.

Now, in her new kitchen, she realized, “Mom’s love was never about money.” She treasured the house, saying, “Hey, Mom? You still know the best.”
